The Fool's bliss makes him vulnerable to the illusions of The Moon which stimulates the creative imagination. It opens the way for bizarre and beautiful thoughts to bubble up from the unconscious, but deep seated fears and anxieties also arise. It may cause The Fool to feel lost and bewildered.
The lucid clarity of The Sun directs The Fool's imagination. It illuminates and shines in all of the hidden places. It dispels the clouds of confusion and fear. It enlightens so The Fool both feels and understands the goodness of the world. He enjoys a vibrant energy and enthusiasm. The Star's openness has solidified into an expansive assurance. He rides out joyously to face a new day with radiant vitality and is able to realize his greatness.
The Fool has been reborn. His false, ego self has been shed allowing his radiant, true self to manifest. He discovers that joy is at life's center and feels absolved. He forgives himself and others knowing that his real self is pure and good. He may regret past mistakes, but knows that they were due to his ignorance of his true nature. He feels clean and refreshed and is ready to start anew. It is time for The Fool to make a deeper Judgement about his life. His own personal day of reckoning has arrived and he can make the necessary decisions about the future. He can choose wisely which values to cherish/discard. His higher self is calling him to rise up and fulfill his promise. He discovers his true reason for entering this life. His doubts and hesitation vanish and he is ready to follow his dream.
The Fool enters The World, but this time with a more complete understanding. He's integrated all the disparate parts of himself and achieved wholeness. He's reached a new level of happiness and fulfillment and experiences life as full and meaningful. The future is filled with infinite promise. He becomes actively involved in the world and shares his unique gifts and talents and finds that he prospers at whatever he attempts. The whole world conspires to see that his efforts are rewarded and his accomplishments are many.
And that is the story of The Fool and has helped me understand the major arcana on an entirely different level. What it has taught me is that we are all The Fool. Learning that fear has no place in our destiny, but love most definitely does. Leading with love and light and healing the world as the world heals us.
