Tarot goes back to the 14th century. Originating from game cards brought to western Europe from Turkey. Originally, the cards were used for two different purposes. People played a game similar to bridge with these cards or they played a choose-your-own-adventure style card game.
It actually wasn't until the 18th or 19th century that tarot cards became used for a kind of fortune telling that has become so popular now.
What is tarot? How does it work?
Well, the power of the cards comes from the ability of their images and meanings to illuminate our most complex dilemmas and desires. The meanings of the decks change over time. Shaped by each era's culture and the needs of individual users. That's why learning tarot can be puzzling for most.
However, the tarot cards are based on one story. "The Fool's Journey" describes the major arcana in the tarot deck. The minor arcana being The Cups, Wands, Swords, and Pentacles.
So, with that being said, I will be making another blog to fully explain "The Fool's Journey" and hopefully helping those who have just started tarot or want to start tarot to understand the story behind the cards.
Much Love.
